2014 ESTATE SHIRAZ

Clyde Park has two plantings of Shiraz, one on the upper flats comprising black volcanic loams over clay, the other on a steep north facing slope which is again volcanic loams over limestone though littered with rocks and smaller stones – one of our most difficult yet rewarding vineyards.

Dense dark bright red in colour, earthy dark spices with hints of cola and liquorice, the palate shows attractive weight and plenty of concentration with a peppery anise driven finish, some spicy characters from whole bunch producing plenty of complexity into this cool climate shiraz. The palate has vibrancy and is quite powerful; the bright fruit flavours are matched by firm but well balanced tannins. Lots of length and complexity.
